Frequently asked questions
Class pictureWhat does Lanser have to offer?

Lanser offers you the opportunity to learn English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and many other languages through conversation-based teaching techniques.

We also offer high-quality translation services, geared to meet deadlines.

How long does it take to learn a foreign language?
In order to give you a realistic answer to this commonly asked question, Lanser will give you a comprehensive oral test to determine prior knowledge of the language you wish to learn or perfect and your aptitude for acquiring new skills.

When do the courses start and how long do they last?
The course begins once you say the word. You can also decide how long you wish the course to last and schedule your classes accordingly. Simply tell us which days of the week and which timetable are most convenient for you and the number of classes you wish to take each week.

How long does each class last and what timetables are available?
Each class lasts approximately 40 minutes, with a 5 minute break between each session. From Monday to Friday, you can schedule your class any time between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. or between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

What structure do the classes take?
The majority of classes take a one-on-one structure, but small groups of two to four students can also be organized if this suits your company better.

Does group learning work?
Yes! Before putting together a group of students, Lanser evaluates each individual to ensure that all group members have the same knowledge of any given language. Groups are necessarily small so that the teacher can provide assistance to each individual.

What if timetable problems arise after the course has begun?
You can change your schedule as often as necessary provided you contact us 24 hours in advance, or before noon on Friday if you need to re-schedule your classes for the week ahead. Changes may be made the same day, but these are subject to the availability of our teaching staff.

If I have to miss a class due to a business trip or a meeting, for instance, will I be able to take it some other time?
Yes! Provided you cancel your class in advance, you will not have to miss it. Cancellations should be made before 7:00 p.m. or on Friday if your class is scheduled for the following Monday. Cancellations due to public holidays should be made on the last working day prior to your class. In the case of groups, all members should be informed of the cancellation, as otherwise, the class will proceed as scheduled. We regret to inform you that no cancellations or timetable changes can be made in the case of Promotional Courses.

What are Promotional Courses?
These are lower-priced courses designed for groups of a maximum of 4 students. Timetables are restricted to between 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and classes are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, or Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The minimum duration of a promotional course is 6 months, but a 2-year study plan is recommended in order to reach an acceptable level of proficiency in the chosen language. Call 5540-1605, 5540-0575 or 5202-9758 for more details on these special courses.

When do promotional courses begin?
Promotional courses may be requested on a monthly basis throughout the
entire year and are suitable for both adults and children.

What background does Lanser's teaching staff have?
Our language teachers are either native speakers or have full command of the language. They are trained in the Lanser Method and are required to hold a university degree or equivalent studies in their country of origin. All members of Lanser's teaching staff are trained linguists. We will change your teacher on a regular basis, as successful language learning requires exposure to a wide range of accents and vocabulary.

What is the Lanser Method?
The Lanser Method is a direct, conversation-based technique, whereby students and teachers alike are discouraged from translating from one language to another and grammar is introduced to the student orally. The student is then required to apply his new knowledge in conversation and is spared the tedious grammar rules of traditional language learning. This method was designed with businessmen and women in mind, but has since been successfully adapted for children, housewives and secretaries.

Can I take classes at work or at home?
Yes! There will be an additional charge when the teacher is required to commute to your home or workplace. This will be determined according to the distance the teacher must travel and time factors. We suggest you schedule several classes consecutively, as this will reduce the cost.

If a company requests a course for one particular individual and that person is unable to complete the full course, what happens to the remaining classes?
These classes may be transferred to another employee, provided a request is made in writing by the company. The same policy applies to non-corporate classes.

What is the means of payment?
Courses must be paid for in advance, with the exception of Promotional Courses, where a range of payment options are available.

What guarantee of success does Lanser offer its students?
What better guarantee of success than the thousands of students Lanser de México has trained in a foreign language during its 32 years in the market? At Lanser, we keep attendance records and a progress sheet is compiled for each individual at the end of each stage of the course. Students will receive a copy of their progress sheet and a second copy will also be submitted to the company if required.
